How To: Upgrading a Licence for WinCC Flexible Runtime

You have finished a project in WinCC Flexible and you have transferred the executable to a PC based SCADA system. After some months your client wants to add more functionallity to the SCADA by adding more informations to the screens. But unfortunatelly this wasn't in the project analysis and now the licence for the RT is not enough for the extra tags.

Here is the procedure for upgrading the current RT licence with an "upgrade" type of licence

1. Connect the USB driver drive with the upgrade licence to the HMI PC.
2. Open Automation Licence Manager, and select the USB drive on the left panel of the program.
3. On the Main panel you will see the new licence. Select it and from the menu select Licence Key -> Tranfer... and select the main drive of your system
4. After the transfer is completed select the main drive on the left panel of the Licence Manager.
5. On the main panel you will see the new licence and the old one. Select the licence you want to upgrade and from the menu select Licence Key -> Upgrade..

After that only one licence will be visible. The new licence will be integrated to the old one and the old licence will be upgraded.

That's it . You are done
